Virco Glass supplies and installs commercial glass and aluminum systems for general contractors, builders and property teams across British Columbia, covering everything from a single tenant improvement to a full building envelope. We work from the tender stage through to final installation, coordinating the glazing scope with the drawings, specifications and other trades on site so the schedule stays on track.

Commercial glazing covers the glass and aluminum systems that make up a building's storefronts, windows, doors, interior partitions and curtain wall — the products that define how a commercial space looks, performs and meets code. Getting it right takes coordination between the design drawings, the aluminum framing, the glass itself (tempered, laminated or insulated, depending on the application) and the trades working around it on site.

Most projects start with a walkthrough of the drawings and specifications so we know exactly what's being asked for before pricing goes out. Once a scope is confirmed, we order material, schedule the crew around the site's construction sequence, and install to the confirmed drawings — checking in with the general contractor or property manager as the work progresses so nothing catches anyone by surprise at close-out.

Materials

Glass and material options.

Tempered glass

Heat-treated for strength and safety — when it breaks, it fractures into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards. Used anywhere code requires safety glazing, including doors and glass near walking surfaces.

Insulated glass units

Two or more panes sealed together with an air or gas-filled space between them, cutting heat transfer through the glass. The standard choice anywhere thermal performance is part of the spec.

Laminated glass

A plastic interlayer bonded between two panes of glass so that if it breaks, the pieces stay stuck to the interlayer instead of falling away. Common in railings, overhead glazing and security-sensitive openings.

Tender and scope review

We review drawings and specifications early so the glazing scope, materials and quantities are accurate before pricing goes out. Catching a mismatch at this stage is a lot cheaper than catching it after material has been ordered.

Glass and aluminum coordination

Framing systems, glass types and hardware are coordinated together so what's ordered matches what the opening actually needs. That includes checking finish, glass makeup and hardware function against the specification before anything is confirmed.

Supply and installation

We supply the material and install it, keeping one point of contact for the glazing scope from order to close-out. That means one crew, one schedule and one place to go if something needs adjusting on site.

Renovations and new construction

The same coordination applies whether it's a ground-up build or an occupied building being renovated in phases. On occupied sites, work is sequenced to keep disruption to tenants and building operations to a minimum.

Most of our commercial work comes through general contractors and builders during the construction phase, where we're brought in during tender or shortly after award to price and coordinate the glazing scope. We also work directly with property managers and owners on renovation, tenant-improvement and replacement projects that don't go through a general contractor at all. Either way, the process is the same: we review the drawings or existing conditions, confirm the scope, and coordinate supply and installation with whoever is managing the project.
